Secret agents are well trained in hand-to-hand combat. This type of combat can get rough though so it’s important our gear is also up for the fight. With this in mind, I’ve started carrying my Moto E5 Play phone in the rugged IRON ARMOR2 case. The case comes with 3 colors to choose from but I just grabbed the basic black.
Recently, I put the new case through the ultimate test when I found myself in hand-to-hand combat in a very unusual location - the top of a moving train.
I was undercover following a target through Europe. He had just boarded a train, along with a team of bodyguards. I followed and tried to keep up surveillance without being noticed.
The beginning of the train ride was fine and I was even able to get some good photos of the target with my Moto E5 Play. Unfortunately though, I was spotted by one of the bodyguards and had to make a run for it.
Now, it’s kind of hard to flee when stuck on a moving train. I made my way to the last car and out the back door. At that point I was cornered though and my only option was to climb up and onto the train roof.
I figured the bodyguard wouldn’t follow but I was wrong. Next thing I know, we are fighting hand-to-hand on the top of this train, speeding through the countryside.
Keeping your balance on a moving train is hard - doing it while also dodging punches is almost impossible.
I needed to not only avoid getting hit myself but I also wanted to be sure I protected my Moto E5 Play phone. I knew it was in a rugged military grade standard drop tested case but it also held important photos I needed to get back to headquarters. The case was able to withstand drops from 2 meters but I wasn’t so sure if it would survive me literally being knocked off the train roof.
During the fight I was not only body slammed to the train roof a few times but I also almost slipped at one point. I was able to grab the train roof railing at the last second to hang on but crashed against the side of the train car.
In the end, I was the better fighter and I was able to knock out the bodyguard. After handcuffing him to the roof of the train, I jumped back down and into the train car.
Pulling out my Moto E5 Play phone, I was relieved to see it was fine. The rugged dual layer construction of the case has both a hybrid thermoplastic inner skin and a durable polycarbonate frame with kickstand. Both came in handy as the phone was undamaged.
Once inside the train car, I grabbed my Moto E5 Play phone to text headquarters. The ultra slim case is fingerprint unlock compatible and I was able to quickly unlock the phone. All buttons and ports are easily accessible too so I even had a chance to charge my phone a bit before we reached the next station.
I jumped off there and got away before anyone else on the target’s security team even noticed the missing guard. It’s always better to not be spotted when working undercover but considering the outcome, I’d still call it a successful mission.
