Secret agents receive a lot of interesting training. It’s not all just combat and weapons training.
One interesting training that most agents receive is on how to fool a lie detector test or a lie expert. Lie detector tests are actually very unreliable and easy to fool. Harder, is the ability to lie and fool a trained lie detection expert.
These are the kind of people who often conduct interrogations. Being able to fool them into thinking you are telling the truth can save your life, protect the mission, and ensure the safety of other agents.
While most training is done at headquarters, due to the nature of our jobs, often agents continue working with trainers while on mission. In my case, I had ongoing training with a lie detection expert while undercover on a recent mission.
Training was conducted via video chat using my LG Stylo 5. I picked up an IRON ARMOR2 LG Stylo 5 rugged case specifically for its great drop and shockproof protection. In particular, it offers great screen protection thanks to a tempered glass screen protector. It also has a built-in raised bezel for extra screen protection.
Since I needed to do the training via video chat, a working screen was vital.
It was an added bonus that the case is also well designed with both style and function. The LG Stylo 5 holster case comes in 3 really nice colors to choose from. It also has a matching holster with swivel belt clip included. It is fully fingerprint unlock compatible and the phone’s stylus, buttons, and ports are all easily accessible.
Despite all of the above effort put into picking out the right protective phone case for the training calls, I’m not always in the mood to do the trainings themselves.
Recently, on my undercover mission, I was deep into cracking a coded message. I was sure the message was the key to completing the mission. I decided that rather than stopping and taking a training call, I would just email the trainer and tell him my phone screen was broken. That way, we would have to reschedule and I could keep working on the code.
Less than 10 minutes after I sent the email the trainer responded - “Nice try, but your phone screen isn’t broken. I will call at the scheduled training time.”
I figured the lie expert had noticed something in my email that gave away that I was lying. I grabbed my phone and got ready for the call.
The first thing I did was ask the trainer how he knew I was lying. Turns out it had nothing to do with my email.
“I knew you had that LG Stylo 5 heavy duty case. There was no way your phone was broken. When you first got the case you bragged about it for a full week. You talked about the rugged dual layer construction, the hybrid thermoplastic inner skin, and the durable polycarbonate frame with kickstand.
We all heard about how it offered premium shock protection and how it could withstand drops from 2 meters. After you mentioned how it was military grade standard drop tested, I picked one up myself.
I knew you were lying. The LG Stylo 5 rugged case might be ultra slim but I knew there was no way you’re phone screen was cracked.”
Well, I guess that’s just proof I do need a bit more training on how to lie effectively.
