One of the most valuable assets you can have as a secret agent is a good informant. Informants are the best way to gather intelligence, especially when investigating very secretive organizations. On a recent undercover mission, I lucked out and found one of my best informants to date.
During the mission, I was tracking and investigating a major human trafficking organization. They were known for kidnapping young women and selling them abroad to the highest bidder. I had hoped to work my way into the organization with a few connections I had in the city.
Unfortunately, the leaders of the organization were a lot more paranoid and cautious than I had anticipated. As an outsider, I was unable to gather much in the way of helpful intelligence.
That was until I came across my informant. I won’t name him but he was an 18 year old kid who worked as a doorman in one of the clubs owned by the organization. He had realized what the organization really did and was eager to help bring them down.
We connected unexpectedly but I was quick to take up his offer of help. I needed to get more information on the organization if there was any hope of arresting the criminals.
The first thing I did was get the kid a new phone so we could communicate. I picked up the Google Pixel 3a and threw in my favorite phone case - the COVERT3.
The phones we use with informants are not your standard cellphone. We build in a number of special hardware and software features to help us gather and share information while also staying anonymous. With that in mind, I decided it was a good idea to use the ultra-thin COVERT 3 Case for its premium drop and shockproof protection.
My informant was eager to help but he was also a kid, prone to fighting, and to be honest, a bit clumsy. I needed a case that would help the phone hold up to his lifestyle.
The COVERT3 was the perfect choice. It has a non-slip diamond grip to prevent accidental drops. It has been military grade standard drop tested and can withstand a drop from 2 meters. It also has reinforced shock absorbing corners and a raised bezel for extra screen protection. The scratch resistant clear back was a nice added bonus.
I needed the phone to be in working order at all times and couldn’t have it breaking in the middle of the mission. It was hard enough to get him the phone, undetected, the first time. I didn’t want to have to try and replace it, mid-mission.
Thankfully, the COVERT3 did the job perfectly. The phone lasted well throughout the mission and I was able to get a lot of insider information thanks to the kid’s position in the club. He overheard lots of important business deals and passed along all the info to me.
The COVERT3 was also really convenient for him to use. All buttons and ports are easily accessible on the phone. The case is also fingerprint unlock compatible, which was important as we needed the phone to be extra secure but also easy to access in a hurry.
At the end of the mission, we helped the informant get work papers and a visa to leave his home country. As an added thank you, I let him keep the phone and even got him the COVERT3 phone case cover in the other 3 colors to choose from.
