As a member of the United States Military I see all kinds of things. Every day is different when you are serving in another country. It is almost unsettling at times having such a hostile schedule. But that is what you sign up for after all. That and to protect our great country of course. Anyways, I was stationed in Afghanistan as a combat engineer. For those of you who are unfamiliar with the military, that means I was on the front lines when I was over there. Being on the front lines meant a lot of things.
It meant being away from base for long periods of time, without showers, good food, and other modern-day conveniences/necessities. It also means facing hostile territories and foreign military members who are trained to fight you. While I am out in the field, I still carry my iPhone XR—in case of emergencies. Well, one day I we were exploring a small village and the next thing we knew there was an explosion from right under some random old truck. The explosion sent many of us, including myself, flying backward through the air. I landed about 500 feet away and the impact was like nothing I have ever experienced. One of the most surprising outcomes of that day was that I did not break my phone! Not even a scratch.
