Secret agents and secret service might sound similar but we are part of very different agencies. A lot of our training overlaps though. Recently, I ended up blurring the lines between the two agencies a bit more than usual.
The issue was that there was some evidence that a member of a secret service team was working with an enemy state. That team was tasked with guarding the family of a visiting international politician.
To help uncover the double agent, I was to play the role of a new secret service member assigned to the team. I had to keep from blowing my cover which meant matching the secret service team exactly. The only tech item of my own I was allowed to carry was my Google Pixel 3a XL with flip folio cover.
The EXEC3 cover offers a great combination of protection while still being convenient and stylish enough to match the suit and tie uniform of the security team. While the Google Pixel 3a XL leather wallet case comes in 3 colors to choose from - black, grey, and red - the black was the only real option.
Inside the case, using the leather flip pocket with magnetic lock, I was able to carry my “fake” secret service ID and also a card from the director of the secret agent bureau.
The idea was that if questioned by the politician, I could prove my dual role (secret agent posing as secret service) by calling the director. The case has a nice stretchable fabric that holds up to 3 cards but was still a secure fit with just the two cards.
For a few days, nothing happened. It wasn’t until the third day that the secret service traitor made his move. The family was out to dinner and about to enjoy a nice dessert course. I was keeping an eye on everything but had been watching one secret service member in particular. He seemed nervous and it was a bit suspicious.
Sure enough, just as the dessert plates are being set on the table, I see him sprinkle something on the politician’s plate. As quick as possible, I smashed the plate to the floor and ran to tackle the assassin.
We both hit the floor hard and I was sure I heard something crack. My first thought was my Google Pixel 3a XL phone and wallet cover. I knew it was military grade standard drop tested and designed to withstand drops from 2 meters. I wasn't sure about surviving a body slam to the floor though. With no time to worry about that, I handcuffed the traitor.
I needed to call for backup and grabbed my phone. On first glance, it looked fine. The Google Pixel 3a XL wallet case was still fingerprint unlock compatible so I unlocked my phone and called headquarters.
Once backup arrived, I gave my phone a second look. The hybrid dual-layer design of the Google Pixel 3a XL flip folio cover obviously provided premium drop and shockproof protection. The case has a durable thermoplastic frame and raised bezel for extra screen protection which worked perfectly. With the scratch resistant clear back window, the phone didn’t even have a scratch.
The Google Pixel 3a XL wallet case was already a favorite of mine. It is well design - all buttons and ports are easily accessible. It looks great too. Now, I was completely sold thanks to its premium protection.
