iPhone 17 Pro Colors and Price Differences
Are you eagerly awaiting the iPhone 18 series? Rumors suggest it could be the first Apple phone to follow a split release pattern! The iPhone 18 Pro and Pro Max are expected to launch in September 2026, while we’ll have to wait until the following spring for the base and budget-friendly ‘e’ models.
For now, all eyes remain on the iPhone 17. This range launched at Apple’s September 2025 ‘Awe-Dropping event,’ with the premium Pro and Pro Max models featuring everything from a powerful A19 Pro chip to an upgraded 18 MP front camera. The iPhone 17 was so popular in its early stages that Apple’s share price increased by over 50%!
Another major update from the previous generation? New colors. Let’s take a closer look at which shades are on offer for the latest iPhone Pro models.

Does the Apple iPhone 17 Pro Offer Any New Colors?
Apple is offering completely new colors for both the 17 Pro and iPhone 17 Pro Max. Exciting for us iPhone fans!
Like previous generation iPhones, the iPhone 16 Pro and Pro Max shades remained pretty neutral, and included:
-
Black Titanium
-
White Titanium
-
Natural Titanium
-
Desert Titanium
So, why are new shades being introduced now? This year’s Pro models replace the titanium frame with an aluminum body and a repositioned Apple logo, reverting to the material used in 2023’s iPhone 15 Pro and Pro Max. In turn, it means the ‘Titanium’ colorways are no longer required.
This change tackles the iPhone 16’s overheating issue, since aluminum distributes heat more effectively. It works alongside a new vapor chamber cooling system that moves heat away from the phone’s critical inner components, particularly under heavy workloads.
Producing titanium frames also takes longer and is more energy-intensive – mainly due to the material’s complex tooling and precise CNC milling manufacturing methods, which result in higher scrap rates.
Aluminum iPhone 17 Pros cost significantly less to mass-produce. They have a smaller carbon footprint, too!
Apple iPhone 17 Pro Shade Range
The upgraded aluminum chassis means new colors have been added to the Apple iPhone 17 Pro and iPhone 17 Pro Max range.
Apple has switched the neutral color palette for more vibrant options, while still maintaining the Pro’s premium feel. There are now just three shades to choose from:
Silver
Silver is the most neutral color of the three. This neutrality means it works well with any phone case, whether you prefer a clear cover or something slightly more artistic.
It’s also best for long-term durability, since scratches tend to show up less on the Silver iPhone 17 Pro. Wondering why? The upper anodized layer looks extremely similar to the aluminum underneath, meaning imperfections are hidden more effectively.
Silver is therefore the best choice if you’re looking for a phone that looks newer for longer. Choosing this shade may even help you maintain a higher trade-in value when it’s time to upgrade!
Deep Blue
Deep Blue is the darkest shade and the closest to black or gray. This navy color is an interesting alternative to last year’s Black Titanium, and a good option if you prefer a classic, sleek appearance for your iPhone 17 Pro.
But if you’ve heard of “Scratch-gate” at the Apple Store, you may be aware that both the iPhone 17 Pro Max and Pro easily mark around the rear camera module’s edges. The problem applies particularly to Deep Blue, where the anodized coating has been found to chip off during everyday use, as shown in YouTuber JerryRigEverything’s durability tests.
Cosmic Orange
The boldest option (and our favorite this year) is Cosmic Orange. There hasn’t yet been a color like it in the iPhone range! It’s a warm amber shade overall, with a slightly lighter Ceramic Glass back compared to the aluminum frame and raised camera plateau.
Cosmic Orange is slightly more durable than Deep Blue, as the metal layer underneath doesn’t have such a contrasting tone. However, chips around the camera plateau and other sharp edges will still show if scratched.
It also helps Apple compete with Samsung’s Galaxy S series, which already comes in shades like Coralred.
Which iPhone Air Colors Are Available?
The iPhone Air offers new Light Gold and Light Blue color options, alongside classic Space Black and Sky Blue shades.
This new model isn’t strictly part of the 17 Pro range. However, the Air was introduced at the same time as an ultra-slim version of the flagship 17 series. It’s 30% thinner than previous iPhone 16 models, yet features the same high-performance A19 chip as the iPhone 17!
And even with their 5.6mm body, iPhone Air models keep the 16 Pro’s titanium material to maintain a strong, durable structure. There are four shades available:
-
Space Black
-
Cloud White
-
Sky Blue
-
Light Gold
If you’re looking for something unique, go for the metallic Light Gold. It’s rare to see a gold phone, yet Apple has reintroduced it to the market with the iPhone Air. The minimalist Cloud White shade also looks effective when contrasted with a vivid phone case featuring a graffiti design!
Are There Any Price Differences Between the iPhone 17 Pro Colors?
All iPhone 17 Pro models are the same price, regardless of which color option you choose.
The series starts from $1,099. This is a $100 price hike from its predecessor. Tariffs imposed by the government last year on phones produced outside of the US mean this price increase was expected anyway (especially since most of Apple’s manufacturing hubs are located in India and China).
However, the iPhone 16 Pro launched with a 128 GB base storage versus the 17’s 256 GB. This means it’s technically the same cost!
Here’s what you’ll pay for the iPhone 17 Pro:
-
256 GB: $1099
-
512 GB: $1,299
-
1 TB: $1,499
The iPhone 17 Pro Max costs $1,99 for the 256 GB base model. Unlike the Pro, this edition keeps the same price as the previous generation for all colorways: $1,399 for 512 GB, while 1 TB costs $1,599. The Pro Max lineup also features a huge 2 TB option, which will set you back $1,999.
Final Thoughts
The Apple iPhone 17 Pro offers no black or white color choices. This has been somewhat controversial among Apple fans, despite a growing demand for more exciting shades over the past few years.
So, if neutrals are your preference, go for the iPhone 17, which comes in 5 unique shades:
-
Black
-
White
-
Mist Blue
-
Sage
-
Lavender
Of course, you’d be sacrificing the Pro performance. But the $799 iPhone 17 base model is still a worthwhile investment, with plenty of reasons to buy! Alternatively, you could wait for the iPhone 18 for new color choices.
Whichever shade option you choose, be sure to protect (and prevent those pesky scratches!) with a shockproof case. Ghostek’s Apple iPhone 17 Pro cases show off the stunning aluminum body and full-width camera plateau, while maintaining military-grade protection.
