WIth a number of hot new phones on the market like the iPhone 7 Plus and the LG V20, that age old question is back again: Which ones better? While theres no way to unequivocally claim that one phone is superior to another with a completely different operating system and design, there are some key differences to bear in mind when considering whether to purchase an iPhone 7 or an LG V20.
Both of these phones are impressive, decked out flagship devices with top of the line cameras, processors and generously sized, gorgeous displays. Starting with size, the iPhone 7 Plus has a 5.5 inch display, while the LG V20 sports a slightly bigger 5.7 inch one. The iPhone 7 Plus is also slightly heavier than the LG V20, weighing in at 188 g to the V20s 174 g. As for the batteries on these handsets, the LG V20 has the advantage of being removable with 3200 mAH to the iPhones 2900 mAH non-removable battery. That said, according to PhoneArena, the iPhone gets better battery life when it comes to real use. In a test they showed the iPhone getting 9 hours and 5 minutes, while the LG V20 showed 6 hours and 23 minutes. The LG V20 did, however charge substantially faster, with the ability to gain a significant battery boost in just 15 minutes. It took less than half the time to fully charge the LG V20 than the iPhone 7 Plus.
In a comprehensive review by PhoneArena, the iPhone 7 showed slightly faster camera speeds of 1.33 seconds for taking a picture to the LG V20s 1.5 seconds. Taking an HDR pic for the iPhone showed a speed of 2.01 seconds, compared to the LG V20s 2.7 seconds, both showing impressive, close speeds for regular use. In comparing video samples at 4K, the writers at PhoneArena concluded that the iPhones image quality surpassed the V20. In their review, the iPhone 7 shines when it comes to portraits, but the LG v20 shines when it comes to landscapes, explaining, Both are excellent camera phones. Secondary cameras are also great, but different: the wide-angle secondary cam on the V20 captures stunning landscapes, while the telephoto secondary cam on the iPhone is great for portraits.
Generally considered by many to be ideal for photographs, CNET calls the iPhone 7 Plus The Photographers Phone, giving the device an impressive 4.5 out of 5 stars. The LG V20 also gets high marks from CNET, but not quite as high, receiving an impressive 3.5 out of 5 stars, explaining, The LG V20 records really high-quality audio and features a swappable battery and secondary wide-angle lens.
In general, these are both powerful devices with excellent designs, performance and battery life. The iPhone offers some unique advantages when it comes to having a top of the line camera however. The LG V20 stands out as a great phone for people in need of a handset with a swappable battery and expandable storage.
