A big part of being a secret agent is passing along intelligence reports. We often work undercover for weeks, months, sometimes even years at a time. During this undercover work, it is important that we can share the information and evidence we are gathering.
Back in the day, this meant swapping briefcases, putting coded ads into the local newspaper, or taking serious risks to make phone calls from public payphones.
When I first started training as a secret agent, a lot of the intelligence we were passing along was loaded onto CDs and thumb drives. These were then left in designated locations for other agents to pick up and pass along.
Today, a lot of the information we gather can be send to headquarters easily and safely using the internet. There are a few cases though were physical handoffs of information are still necessary. This is especially true in regions of the world where internet access is highly restricted or monitored.
I was recently part of a mission that involved a situation like this. The agent was working undercover for over a year and needed to get us some new information. We decided to make the exchange using our cell phones.
My role was to play a lost tourist. I would be carrying my phone - a Galaxy J2 Core - while the agent would be carrying the same phone. We would “accidentally” bump into each other, drop our phones, and switch them as we picked them up.
If everything went as planned, he would then have my empty phone and I would have his phone filled with the intelligence reports.
When planning the mission, we decided to add the COVERT3 ultra thin clear phone case to our phones. The premium case comes with three colors to choose from - rose, smoke, and clear. We made sure to match by both selecting a clear case.
We needed to drop our phones to make the switch and couldn’t risk damage. We needed something that could provide drop and shockproof protection. We ended up choosing the COVERT3 specifically for its built-in enhanced drop protection.
We were just planning to drop our phones from a low height. However, it was nice to know that the COVERT 3 is rated to withstand drops from up to 2 meters and has been military grade standard drop tested. The case has been built with very protective reinforced shock absorbing corners and a raised bezel for extra screen protection.
Ironically, the COVERT 3 Case is actually hard to “accidentally” drop thanks to the anti-slip diamond grip. Despite that, we were able to successfully pull off the drop and switch without a scratch - literally. The case has a super nice scratch resistant clear back.
Once I had the phone, I was able to quickly access the intelligence information and send it to headquarters. Thankfully, the COVERT3 case is well designed and all the phone’s buttons and ports were easily accessible.
Overall, it was a very successful mission. The phone drop and swap worked perfectly. We got the information we needed and most importantly, the agent was able to continue working undercover.
